VI Peel

The Vitality Institute offers six uniquely formulated VI Peel treatments designed to lift pigment, remove sun damage, alleviate acne and scarring, and fight fine lines and wrinkles. All our painless medium-depth VI Peels are safe for all skin types and tones with results in as little as 7 days!

A VI Peel is a medium-depth chemical peel that penetrates your top layer of skin, called the epidermis, reaching into the dermis underneath. It uses a product trademarked by Vitality Institute Medical Products.

Like other chemical peels, a VI Peel works by exfoliating your skin and stimulating the production of new proteins. The procedure is commonly used to treat signs of aging, improve skin texture, and correct pigmentary issues.

The product used in VI Peels is made up of a blend of ingredients that include:

  • Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) (10 to 12 percent)

  • Phenol (10 to 12 percent)

  • Salicylic acid (10 to 12 percent)

  • Vitamin C (4 percent)

  • Tretinoin (0.1 to 0.4 percent)

  • Hydrocortisone

  • Hydroquinone

  • Kojic Acid

  • Benzoyl Peroxide

VI Peels are gentle enough that they can safely be used on your face, chest, eyelids, hands, and back.

Innovative

History

The Vi Peel was one of the first chemical peel brands to promote itself as being safe in patients of all skin types – meaning patients with both light and dark skin, face and body.

The

Difference

The Vi peel is a specially-formulated facial peel that uses a proprietary blend of acids, which are designed to cause your skin to peel. After you have this procedure done and your skin peels, it reveals clearer, smoother, and younger-looking skin underneath.

Effective &

Painless

Unlike other chemical peels, the VI Peel® treatments are easy to apply, virtually painless, require no skin pre-conditioning, and deliver results in as little as seven days. VI peels nurture the skin with vitamins and minerals throughout the exfoliation process.

Before & After

 FAQs

  • One week before the procedure: Stop taking prescription or over-the-counter retinoids and avoid any products containing alpha hydroxy acids. Avoid laser hair removal, electrolysis, wax, and depilatory creams.

  • The working principle of chemical peeling is to remove dead skin from the outermost layer of the skin through a chemical method, revealing new healthy cells and radiant, renewed skin. This medium depth of penetration provides a stronger peel, but with a short recovery period. For many candidates, the VI Peel is a great way to maintain healthy, radiant skin and prevent acne and dyspigmentation. It is bactericidal.

  • Usually 30 minutes or less. It’s pretty quick and easy!

  • It is recommended to have at least a 4 weeks to allow your skin to fully heal and regenerate in between treatments.

  • When getting a VI Peel, the skin will first be thoroughly cleansed, removing all surface dirt and oil. The VI Peel solution is then applied to the skin twice. After the initial application of the first layer, patients often feel a slight tingling.

Shortly after, the second layer is applied and left on the skin until it begins to feel dry, indicating that the outermost layer of skin is being lifted. VI Peel is gentle enough that a neutralizing solution is not needed once the peel is complete. About three days after treatment, your skin will begin to peel. The process will take approximately four days and the treatment will be completed approximately 7 days after use.

After the VI Peel treatment, you can resume activities immediately, but it is recommended that you avoid strenuous exercise and sun exposure during skin peeling. Wear a hat and use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to avoid sun exposure.

Please note that results may vary and it can take 4-6 weeks to see noticeable differences. We usually recommend a series of at least 3 VI Peels spaced monthly to see optimal results.

  • People with the following conditions should refrain from the VI peel:

    Pregnancy and breastfeeding

    Phenol or aspirin allergies

    Inflamed skin with open wounds

Use of isotretinoin (Accutane®) in the last 3 months

Active cold sores or herpes simplex virus infection

Chemotherapy or radiation in the last 6 month

  • After you have the peel applied to your skin, at first, you wait 4 hours to cleanse your face. Then, your skin begins to peel about 2-3 days after the procedure is done. Your provider will give you specific instructions you must follow.

This looks just like the after-effects when you’ve gotten sunburned in the past. People with fairer skin will peel more heavily, so it may look like you used a fake tanning product.

It’s considered to be a minimally-invasive procedure, but you may want to try to work from home for a few days if possible. The results aren’t permanent, so you may need to schedule an appointment for another peel whenever your skin starts to show new signs of the condition you’re treating in order to maintain results.
