What is PRP Microneedling?

The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) with Microneedling Treatment involves taking a small amount of blood from a patient’s arm, spinning the blood in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the golden-coloured platelet rich plasma, which contains your powerful anti-aging stem cells and growth factors.

PRP can also help stimulate hair growth and maintain healthy hair follicles!!
While the blood is being spun, numbing cream is applied to the area being treated.

The PRP is then injected into the desired areas and results in minimal trauma and bruising.

We then use PRP as a serum over the face before microneedling the full face to allow small channels for the PRP to infuse down under the skin for a full-face treatment of PRP.

After the treatment, mild swelling can be expected in the treatment areas, similar to a mild sunburn.
Downtime is a maximum of 24 hours.

Pro-tip: Add a session of Celluma Light Therapy for rapid healing powers after your treatment.

How PRP Microneedling Visibly Transforms Skin

The PRP Microneedling treatment works in three simple steps, designed to activate the skin’s natural healing process.

Following each session, the skin begins to heal itself, looking more renewed and rejuvenated over time with your own natural plasma.

PRP Microneedling is only used in professional settings and delivers dramatic results without the use of heat or chemicals.

Inevitably, as we age, our innate ability to produce collagen, fibroblasts and elastin decreases dramatically, creating more wrinkles and visible effects of aging in our skin.

As with all goods things health wise, preventative care is key.

Skin Cell Turnover

Step by Step Process

  • Hemostasis

During this process, platelets come into contact with collagen, resulting in activation and aggregation. An enzyme called thrombin is at the center, and it initiates the formation of a fibrin mesh.

  • Inflammation

SkinPen’s microneedles penetrate the skin’s surface, triggering a natural immune response to disinfect, remove debris, increase blood flow, and activate the creation of new tissue.

  • Proliferation

The micro-channels or tiny holes created by SkinPen are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

  • Remodeling

New dermal tissues form, rich in collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin quality, visibly reducing facial acne scars and neck wrinkles, leaving skin more smooth, radiant, and younger-looking.

 FAQs

  • The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) with Microneedling Treatment involves taking a small amount of blood from a patient’s arm, spinning the blood in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the golden-colored platelet-rich plasma, which contains your powerful anti-aging stem cells and growth factors. It is then injected into the skin as well as microneedled into the tissue. It creates thousands of controlled micro-injuries, or microchannels, in the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin. This induces the body's wound healing cascade with your own natural plasma. Plasma is the liquid portion of whole blood. It is composed largely of water and proteins, and it provides a medium for red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets to circulate through the body. Platelets, also called thrombocytes, are blood cells that cause blood clots, as well as other necessary growth and healing functions.

  • PRP Microneedling creates hundreds to thousands of “micro” skin punctures per second to stimulate the skin’s natural wound healing process - inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling with your own collagen- to prompt tissue remodeling without causing scar tissue formation. Most patients can return to normal activities within 24 hours.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which uses growth factors derived from your body’s own blood to enrich the layers of the skin further. PRP is rich in a variety of growth factors that boost the skin, including:

Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), which regulates cell growth and stimulates fibroblast, a cell that expedites skin healing

Transforming Growth Factor (TGF), which promotes the growth of new blood vessels.

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), which important signaling protein involved in both blood cell growth and development

Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF), which promotes new connective tissues in the skin, as well as epithelialization in order to repair injured tissue.

Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), which encourages collagen growth and proteoglycan synthesis.

Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF), which speeds up skin regeneration.

  • PRP contains proteins and several growth factors that regulate and activate cell migration and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. By using microneedling as the supplemental delivery method for the PRP, the two treatments work synergistically which leads to more rapid collagen production. Patients will be able to note a youthful radiance and tightening of their skin directly following microneedling with PRP but it is recommended to receive 3-6 treatments 4 weeks apart to maintain collagen production and to optimize their skin rejuvenation.

  • If you are looking for a way to revitalize your skin or reduce the appearance of signs of aging, stretch marks, or acne scars, stretch marks, microneedling with PRP may be the cosmetic solution for you. To prevent unwanted side effects and ensure ideal results, it is important to choose an expert to perform your PRP microneedling treatments.

  • Yes, by design. Platelet Rich Plasma is safe because it comes from your own blood, therefore, there is minimal risk for allergic or immune reaction. Platelet Rich Plasma preparation must be conducted by a trained medical professional. SkinPen’s patented- and single-use- sterile needle cartridge is built with safety in mind. SkinPen is also surrounded by a custom-designed BioSheath that acts as a barrier to prevent cross contamination between procedures. That’s part of the reason SkinPen by Crown Aesthetics is the world’s first FDA-cleared microneedling device.

  • PRP Microneedling should not be used on patients who have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s); open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s); an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics; a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction; are pregnant or nursing; or are currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane). Talk to your doctor to see if this treatment is right for you.

  • PRP Microneedling procedures tend to cost less than the alternatives, due to their non-invasive nature. The cost of PRP procedures varies depending on the size and the number of treatment areas. During your consultation, we can develop a plan that works within your budget.

  • Quite a bit. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s clearance covers not only the SkinPen device but the entire protocol. That includes the SkinFuse Lift HG Hydrogel used to protect against abrasion and friction during the treatment, as well as the custom-designed BioSheath to prevent cross contamination.

Celluma Pro Light Therapy

  • Blue Light Therapy

Blue light kills the acne-causing bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes, or P acnes, which can cause inflammation. P acnes is sensitive to blue light. Using the blue light, eliminates the bacteria found in the oil glands in the skin.

  • Near Infrared Light Therapy

NIR light therapy helps reverse signs of skin aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, and sagging, papery skin. In the deeper layers of the skin, NIR increases collagen and elastin production. This restores the thickness, firmness, and elasticity of youthful skin.

  • Red Light Therapy

At the cellular level, red lights help promote blood circulation to bring more oxygen and nutrients to your skin’s surface, which helps create a radiant glow. Additionally, the increased blood flow contributes to collagen and elastin production, which can help minimize signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines.

What is light therapy?

Light Emitting Diode (LED) phototherapy is the application of light energy to tissue to obtain therapeutic benefits.

The energy is used to improve cellular performance. Phototherapy is known for its healing and anti-inflammatory properties and has a variety of applications across many medical fields.

Research has shown that phototherapy can: increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, decrease wrinkles, decrease inflammation, improve skin tone and wrinkles, texture and clarity, ease muscle and joint pain, stiffness, spasm and arthritis and kill acne bacteria, and much more.

How does light energy work?

Specific wavelengths of light energy, when properly absorbed, up-regulates compromised cells. The light (photons) energy is absorbed by photoacceptors in the mitochondria and used to create adenosine triphosphate (ATP).

The ATP produced then stimulates various metabolic processes which can result in the repair and regeneration of cell and tissue components.

In an article, “Therapeutic Light” -by Chukuku S. Enwemeka, PT, PhD, FACSM, he wrote “other reported mechanisms of light-induced beneficial effects include modulation of prostaglandin levels, alteration of somatosensory evoked potential and nerve conduction velocity, and hyperemia of treated tissues.

The resultant clinical benefits include pain relief in conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, bursitis, tendonitis, ankle sprain, and temporomandibular joint dysfunction, shoulder and neck pain, arthritis, and post-herpetic neuralgia, as well as tissue repair in cases of diabetic ulcer, venous ulcer, mouth ulcer, fractures, tendon rupture, ligamentous, tear, torn cartilage, and nerve injury.

What is Celluma Pro?

Cleared by the FDA for pain management and skin care, Celluma Pro LED light therapy devices use specific wavelengths of light energy to improve cellular health by accelerating the repair and replenishment of compromised tissue cells.

Based on NASA research, Celluma delivers blue, red and near-infrared light energy simultaneously to safely treat a wide variety of conditions.

Each wavelength is absorbed by different molecules that act as a signaling mechanism for different cellular processes.

For example, some reduce inflammation and some kill bacteria, while others enhance localized circulation.
